God Will Know His Own

Generals always fight the current war with the tools and techniques of the previous war or in some cases wars which date back centuries. After all, classic jokes always get the biggest laughs.

Hence, in the WAR ON TERROR we have a huge security apparatus to strip search Grandma at the airport, restriction upon restriction for travelers, open borders from South America and Canda and the usual assortment of publicity driven initiatives designed to reassure a skeptical public their government is WILL WIN.

Sadly, these techniques, while somewhat effective in the previous century and previous wars, lack substance in the current century.

In the global village of the 21st Century, for example, an Improvised Nuclear Device (IND) set off anywhere will pretty much cause terror everywhere.

Hence for the purposes of Al Quaeda, an indiscriminate IND discharged near the Green Zone in Downtown Bagdhad which destroys American Troops and equipment on a massive scale with an equal number of Islamic Faithful will be just as effective as an IND discharged in downtown Detroit, Michigan.

Troop casualties will reach Vietnam proportions in a single blow, the American Political Infrastructure will be in terminal meltdown, the Islamic Faithful will be instantly
martyred and all others will receive the reward due infidels.

A good time will be had by all.

This target of opportunity is only possible because of the current Administration's obsession with the tactics of occupation learned in postwar Germany and Japan or as poorly practiced in Vietnam.

Two lessons from Vietnam have yet to be understood.

1. The US Army cannot be a surrogate fighter for the local population of "good guys". Good guys must learn to fight their own fight.

2. An Army, much like a battle tank, must remain in motion or it will die. It was the "Strategic Hamlet" policy and the establishment of fixed forward firebases that led to excessive American casualties in Vietnam and it is the occupation of Iraq that has created the highest number of casualties in the last three years.

The occupations of postwar Germany and Japan took place among a subdued and cowed population of civilians and former military. Even so, resistance elements popped up for several years after the Surrender Instruments were signed in 1945. The last Japanese soldier surrendered in Micronesia sometime in the early 70's.

Neither Vietnam nor Iraq contain a subdued and conquerored people.

Our Military must be tanned, rested and ready to fight for our strategic interests on other battlefields-Syria, Lebanon, Iran and possibly North Korea.

Our Government cannot control a Civil War in Iraq any more effectively than Great Britain or France could control a Civil War in the United States in 1860.

Within the United States all able bodied Citizens must renounce the habits of unconditional submission to every whim of Government Officials and relearn habits of self reliance and self sufficiency. The Jihadists care not who they harm and the time may arrive when a Government Official may not be available to offer solace, comfort or assistance to individual citizens. ( See Katrina, Hurricane)

If self reliance and self sufficiency mean fire hoses on every block with trained neighborhood squads of firefighters so be it. The mere exercise will reacquaint Americans with notions of Independence and Sovereignty.

Mr. President, please do not fiddle while America burns.

Obligatory Stanley Cup Commentary

So the Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup. (Yawn)

It would be impossible to improve on the comments of one Barry Norman about Ice Hockey in Raleigh NC in a letter he wrote to the editor of the now defunct (Raleigh) Spectator Magazine.

Defining Terms

Mr. Spectator:

Ice Hockey: the final fruition of the imperialist policies which led to the War of Northern Aggression and have now culminated in the abject domination of the agricultural colony by the occupation forces of the industrialized invader.

Resistance is futile.

Culture is irrelevant.

Forget your Confederate money, boys.

The South ain't never gonna rise again.

Y'all want cream cheese on them bagels?

Bless you Mr. Norman, where ever you are!

Bull-shevik Blues

For the vast overwhelming majority of sensible Americans contact with liberal radio has become akin to a machismo Kung Fu exercise wherein the listener exposes an extremity to an open candle flame to demonstrate a superhuman capacity to endure pain.

A new entrant to the genre is liberal talk radio that masquerades as a neutral purveyor of infotainment but will never lose an opportunity to smack conservative or libertarian concepts at every turn.

Drive through parts of Central North Carolina on a weekday morning and your car radio will soon scan FMTalk 101.1 WZTK with Brad and Britt. (http://www.fmtalk1011.com/)

After briefly and occasionally genuflecting to contemporary Conservative values they immediately revert to the hoariest of hoary hippie flower child notions and ideas in their discussions humor sketches.

Two weeks ago (sorry, no date, probably a Thursday) Brad and Britt's Topic-of-the-Morning was, yes, the POST OFFICE and the High Price Of Postage Stamps.

Now a clear indication listeners are in the presence of a Liberal Hippie Bull-shevik is the quality of the solution they offer to the crisis de jour. It will always require SACRIFICE, and GENERAL INCONVENIENCE applied by BIG GOVERNMENT.

Brad and Britt did not disappoint. Their solution to the HIGH PRICE OF POSTAGE STAMPS was to eliminate Saturday Delivery.

Brad?, Britt?(sorry, you both sound the same) question was asked and answered twenty, thirty years ago.

Back in the good ole days, the question was posed -would consumers pay five cents for a ten cent postage stamp? Unremarkably, most people answered in the affirmative.

Then the dirty free market capitalist details emerged. The Post Office would franchise the right to print postage stamps to private advertisers who would then sell these franchised stamps to postal patrons at a discount and make up the cost difference in advertising fees.

The flower children of then and now hated this idea and consequently in the 21st Century, America remains saddled with a bloated bureaucracy which pays full retail list market salaries to postal clerks whose job description is indistinguishable from the job description of a grocery store clerk or a bank teller neither of whom can ever hope to earn a fraction of the same salary
for essentially the same work.

Thank you Brad and Britt for your enlightened re-hash of the same old nonsense from half a century ago.

For most people it has become a non-issue because they pay their bills and conduct their correspondence with email and electronic fax. Postage stamps? What the heck are they? Can you say borrriiiing?

Last week, no kidding, Brad and Britt were hot on the trail of yet another compelling contemporary debate- illegal immigrants and the lower cost of construction. It seems Americans must tolerate the Tsunami of illegal immigration or pay twenty percent more for the price of their new home.

Brad?, Brit? (sorry, you both sound the same) this question was also asked and answered OVER HALF A CENTURY AGO!

Housing construction cost would be a fraction of current rates if the efficiencies and economies of scale made possible by the assembly line were introduced in the post World War II market as would have been possible if an absurd combination of Soviet Socialist Labor Unions and Government Liberals had not aggressively blocked it.

See? With technology and modern manufacturing methods our new houses would be better, faster, cheaper, more durable, and NO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS needed!

That, boys, is the discussion contemporary Americans expect from their highly paid, highly trained radio infotainers.

Soon, advertisers everywhere, no matter how dumb, how sympathetic and how cash rich will come to the conclusion they too can no longer afford to underwrite booorrinnng liberal Bull-sheviks.

Or they will go the way of Enron or Winn-Dixie.

Speed the day!

Yes,my comments on the Duke Lacrosse Case!

At the exact moment it would be almost impossible to believe the Duke Lacrosse story could get any more bizarre comes one Raleigh News & Observer Columnist Ruth Sheehan in her
April 13th column with a personal unsubstantiated allegation of rape against a male or males in her life TWENTY ONE years ago! ( or twenty, read carefully, it makes no sense)

In two short sentences she publicly slanders every male with whom she has associated over the past two decades as well as a goodly number of females who she apparently could not trust to share details about this traumatic criminal incident.

Here are the pertinent sentences quoted from the column:

"I know because I was raped 21 years ago, on my 20th birthday. Twenty years ago this week, in fact."

"I never turned the man in, never reported the rape, never even told family or friends until many years later."

Call the Cold Case Investigators, amateur or professional, this story deserves scrutiny.

Somewhere out there a rapist walks unpunished or uncharged.

As is the case with Clerical child molesters and others, he is likely to have a lengthy history of criminal activity which may or may not have ever been discovered.

It would be easy to surmise there was little physical evidence in the form of cuts or bruises on her face or arms else her close friends would have enquired after Ms. Sheehans health.

For the same reason it is equally likely there was no dramatic change in Ms. Sheehans deportment or demeanor which would also have drawn the attention of her friends. This tends to rule out a case of stranger rape.

So there remains only a timeline. On or about the middle of April 1986 (or 1985!) Ms.Sheehan was assaulted by an unknown male or males.

If a case of acquaintance rape, the pool of potential suspects would naturally begin with Ms. Sheehan's College Yearbook. Or perhaps her High School Yearbook. Or perhaps a
review of her resume to determine who were her co-workers at the time. Names from those sources entered into a criminal database should quickly spit out a small pool of possible candidates.

But this is a terrible digression.

If Ms. Sheehan expects readers of the News & Observer ( a paper not known for its precise and accurate OR fair and balanced reporting) to take her claim seriously she needs to revise and extend her remarks to reassure the public her comments were not idly inserted to make a point.

Certainly the editors who allowed these comments to pass through their hands unchallenged should insist on a more complete account.

It would be a horrible thing for any man to work alongside Ms. Sheehan in the newsroom only to discover twenty years in the future she had suffered criminal assault and every former co-worker is now under a cloud of suspicion based on some undocumented public comment she made.

After all, that is why the Duke Lacrosse Case is such a compelling contemporary cautionary fable.

Welcome! Thank you for your attention!

In the age of converging inananities, I now join 200 million of my fellow Americans to post my thoughts about everything under the sun, most of it of little value to anyone.

If you find my comments to be of any redeeming social value please pass them on to two hundred (million) of your closest friends, if you do not enjoy them or cannot find any value in them, hey, the Internet is a big place. Go somewhere else.

Best regards to all,
